Here we Go Again

I am writing this on a day with brilliant blue skies and temperatures in the mid-sixties. Unfortunately, it has been this way for the past month, and there is no rain in sight. After a very soggy October and December it seems the drought has returned. On top of that, we have just received a weather revisory that winds from 25-50 mph are due in the area over the next three days. Life is rarely dull.

Some good things seem to happen regularly, however; like the results from the annual San Francisco Chronicle Wine Competition. The 2022 winners were just announced, and once again we did more than okay. Taft Street 2020 Russian River Valley Sauvignon Blanc won a DOUBLE GOLD MEDAL, our 2019 Russian River Valley Zachary Hill Pinot Noir won a GOLD MEDAL, our 2019 Russian River Valley Grenache-Syrah blend won a GOLD MEDAL, and our 2019 Russian River Valley Fifty Five Thirty Seven Pinot Noir won a SILVER MEDAL. Those were the four wines we entered – not bad (as usual).

We are still abiding by Covid restriction guidelines, and like most people we are anxious to return to whatever is considered normal. We hope to have some festivities in place for our 4oth anniversary – April Fools Day. We also are planning a series of smallish parties later in the spring and into the summer months. We will update as we learn more.

We are scheduled to release our 2021 Rose of Pinot Noir on Valentine’s weekend. The staff tasted the wine last week and loved it. We’ll try it again later this week to recheck. We will open the Tasting Room Friday through Monday (February 11-14) to welcome the new wine and old friends. It is always a good idea to call ahead.

We might as well take advantage of this unseasonal weather. Pack a picnic, come out to the winery, sip and savor while you can.

Cheers,

Mike Tierney
