TWILIGHT Zone CONTINUES

A significant uptick in Covid-19 cases in California has delayed the reopening of sections of the state’s economy. For the wine industry restaurant sales remain virtually nonexistent, and in Sonoma County Tasting Room activities are limited to reservation-only parties who must sit at socially distanced tables. This will undoubtedly change, but no one has been a very good predictor of the future. We won’t even try.

However, life goes on. Our production staff is in the midst of its summer bottling season. This summer we will employ a member of the 3rd generation of the original Taft Street cast, as Otto Tierney joins the bottling brigade. Welcome Ott!

Results of the 2020 International Women in Wine Competition have been releases, and as expected Taft Street did well. We were awarded a GOLD MEDAL for the 2019 Russian River Valley Sauvignon Blanc; a GOLD MEDAL for our 2018 Russian River Valley Grenache; and SILVER MEDALS for our 2018 Russian River Valley Hopkins Farms Chardonnay and our 2019 Russian River Valley Rose of Pinot Noir. Congratulations winemaker Melissa Kuhn. The wines are available in the Tasting Room and online.

Everything looks good in the vineyards, and indications point to a large and quality harvest.

Do come by the winery this summer, but remember to call ahead so we can ensure you safe space to enjoy the (liquid) fruits of our labor.

Cheers!
