The Wines of Winter

Winter finally started a couple of weeks back with a good drenching. We are waiting for more – lots more. In the meantime growers are taking advantage of the dry weather and vineyard pruning is in high gear.

Our 2011 Russian River Valley Sauvignon Blanc is bottled and ready to go. It’s a juicy, flavor packed wine and we are quite excited about having it back on the market. This month we’ll bottle our 2011 Sonoma County Rose of Pinot Noir and the 2011 Russian River Valley Pinot Gris – yet more things to get excited about.

Winemaker Evelyn White and I had a great trip to New Orleans in January. The wines were enthusiastically received; and we were delighted to have our wines on the lists of such restaurants as Emeril’s, Dickie Brennan’s Steakhouse, and Drago’s – and many more. This month it’s off to see our friends at Vision Wine Brands in New York. Later, we’ll accompany the Sonoma County Vintners Association to trade tastings in Chicago and Los Angeles.

Taft Street will also participate in the San Francisco Chronicle Wine Competition’s Public Tasting, to be held at Fort Mason in San Francisco on February 18th – showing off our GOLD MEDAL winning 2010 Sonoma County Rose of Pinot Noir and our 2009 Russian River Valley Riesling.

The Tasting Room is getting a face-lift to prepare for the summer season. A new bar, fixtures, furniture, floor and washroom will make a visit to Taft Street more fun than ever.

Drop on by when you’re in the neighborhood. We’ll make you happy you did.

Cheers,

Mike Tierney
