What a difference a month makes! Over 10” of rain fell in just two days last week; more rain fell yesterday, and more is forecast for tomorrow. The drought may not be over, but fire season for this year definitely is. Here’s hoping this continues for a (long) while.
Our 40th harvest ended just before the rains came, and everyone at the winery is quite happy with the results. The grapes arrived in great shape and there are high expectations on all the 2021 wines – starting with the 2021 Russian River Valley Pinot Noir Nouveau.
This new favorite here at Taft Street will be released on the traditional 3rd Thursday of November (18th). We will celebrate the occasion by opening the Tasting Room Thursday through the following Sunday. Those who make a reservation will be served complimentary servings of the new wine. The winery’s cellar and Tasting Room staff will celebrate the 40th harvest on Friday. To add to the festivities we will install a permanent tent out on the patio; which, when combined with our new heaters and furniture, will provide healthy and comfortable seating year around. The perfect place to enjoy Taft Street wines.
The Holidays are quickly approaching and it’s time to start gathering appropriate wines. With our current Rose of Pinot Noir sold out (February 14 is not that far away), the Pinot Noir Nouveau is a solid choice. We sometimes call it our winter rose. Any of our wines will grace a holiday table…. or any dining room table….. or any lunch table……. or even a breakfast table.
Cheers,
Mike Tierney
