Today (September 2nd) officially starts the 2014 Harvest for Taft Street. We have just brought in 25 tons of Chardonnay – clone 17 – from Saralee Kunde’s Catie’s Corner Vineyard, located west of Windsor near the Sonoma County Airport. The fruit is clean and aromatic and hopes are high for a terrific wine. Pinot Gris from Vino Farms’ vineyard on Eastside Road is due later this week, and Sauvignon Blanc is being tested for sugar levels. Weather forecasts are promising, and it looks like the 2014 Harvest is starting off on the right foot.
Orders are starting to roll in from our new California broker, Vintage Wine Marketing; and it is encouraging to see Taft Street Wine spreading out over the entire state. We have also seen our initial order from our new distributor in Florida, Miami based Antares, Inc.
Welcome back Kaitlyn Callagy from a sweet honeymoon in BoraBora, Tahiti. We’re sure you couldn’t wait to get back!
September marks to end of our summer concert series – A Little Street Music. Bohemian Highway is taking over for McKenna Faith on Sunday, September 14th; and the season finale with feature the Daniel Castro Band on Sunday, September 28th. Concerts are from 3 – 6 pm; admission is free; and wines are available by the bottle and by the glass. This is truly high season in Sonoma County. The harvest is in full swing, the weather could not be better – come share the magic!
Cheers,
Mike Tierney
