With a heat spell passing through the area, growers are reporting yet another possible bumper crop. The first couple of weeks in May are typically the last of frost season, so fingers are crossed. We will keep you posted as the vintage progresses.
Bottling season continues, with most of our current efforts going to our custom crush clients. We will bottle our 2013 Russian River Valley Chardonnay in June.
Taft Street bids a warm good bye to Clayton Smith, our California Sales Manager and all around good guy, who left Taft Street last month. We very much appreciate the valuable work he did for us, and we wish him well.
Travel season is well underway. Winemaker Evelyn White spent a week in the New Orleans area, visiting accounts and leading winemaker dinners. Mike Martini spent a few days in the Texas market, wining and dining with the folks from Specs Wines and Spirits. He will venture to Chicago later this month. I will be off to the New York market, working with our friends from Vision Wine Brands.
May kicks off our outdoor events season, and this year is our most ambitious ever. This month we will host our annual spring President’s Club party and wine distribution (May 10th); and on May 25th the third season of “A Little Street Music” kicks off in a big way with local favorites The Pulsators.
With the picnic area cleaned up and the shade cloth in place, we are ready for bocce and al fresco entertainment. Join the fun!
Cheers,
Mike Tierney
