Rain Rain Go Away

We’ve had a good wet winter, the reservoirs are full, so it’s time to dry out. But no, Mother Nature has decided to mix things up a bit. May was cooler and wetter than usual; not the greatest of starts for the 2011 vintage. However, it is still early, and there will be lots of sun between now and harvest (we hope).

In the cellar bottling season is well underway, with our 2009 Alexander Valley Merlot scheduled for release later this summer. We will also bottle our 2010 Russian River Valley Chardonnay, in anticipation of release next year, after we have depleted our newly released 2009 Russian River Valley Chardonnay.

For Fathers’ Day, in conjunction with our neighboring wineries in the west county we will offer a wine/food pairing – our 2007 Russian River Valley Zinfandel with pulled pork sliders. Also in June is our annual Shareholders’ Meeting, being held at our home in the Dry Creek Valley.

Just returned from New Orleans, where we participated in the 19th annual Wine & Food Experience. Our wines were a big hit with both restauranteurs and the public, and Taft Street has a real presence in the Louisiana wine market.

June is a particularly good time to visit us in the Tasting Room. Summer crowds have not yet arrived in mass, the temperatures remain comfortable, and all of the summer wines have been released. Join us as we welcome in our overdue summer.

Cheers,

Mike Tierney
