Fall as we like it

Lately things have seemed (almost) normal. Blue skies, warm days, cool nights, grapes picked and pressed – life seems idyllic; and it is (kinda). There is no rain in sight, high winds are occasionally forecast, and the pandemic has changed both our personal and business schedules. But life goes on, providing ample proof for the necessity of wine in our lives.

In the cellar fermentation is continuing, analysis of the new wine is taking place with close attention being paid to any hints of smoke taint, and the bottling line is being made ready for late year activity.

The Tasting Room has been going gangbusters. The reservation only – patio tasting program is proving a great success, and our October sales figures were at an all time high. There is a reason for this. In addition to great wines from the Russian River Valley, we offer a beautiful picnic setting with attractive socially distanced seating, served by a friendly and knowledgeable staff.

We are only three weeks away from Beaujolais Nouveau Day. According to French law, on Thursday, November 19th (the 3rd Thursday in November), wines from the current vintage are allowed to be sold. On that date we at Taft Street will introduce our 2020 Russian River Valley Pinot Noir Nouveau, a celebratory wine for an unforgettable year.
